Ads
I hate ads. Their simple vision about reaching happiness by using some sort of “snake oil” product or buying a brand new fuc.ing car, makes me sick. Everytime I think about all the people that even doesn’t have a TV set to watch them, I almost cry. How will an unemployed person feel about not having the money or the power or the looks to be accepted? I remember this Simpsons episode (Mr. Plow) when Homer hires an advertising company to promote his business and they produce a confusing and “artistic” ad that has nothing to do with it. The best part is when he asks: “What was that?”. It’s the same thing that happens to almost everyone that sees them: “what the h.ll does this have to do with me?”
I don’t have cable. And I doubt I ever will. TV is crap most of the time. I prefer a good book, or taking a walk, when weather is good. But watch out! TV sets have hypnotic powers. Don’t stare at them for too long, or they’ll suck your brain and weaken your will. Unfortunately, it happens to me from time to time, as a result of living in a world that I feel I don’t belong to… It’s the best when you want to stop thinking about yourself and need something to shut your brain off for a couple of hours. But alas!, BBC World is no longer in the air. They’ve switched to digital signal, and my community antenna is not able to receive this. One more reason to turn that damn thing off…
